Your Individual Ratings
Ratings are combined from highest to lowest using VA’s whole-person formula rather than simply added together.
2026 VA Disability Calculator
Add your individual disability ratings, account for qualifying bilateral conditions, and estimate your combined VA rating and monthly disability compensation using 2026 rates.
Why VA Math Feels Different
VA combines disability percentages using its “whole person” method. This calculator is designed to help you understand that math and estimate your monthly compensation. VA makes the official rating and payment determination.
How It Works
Ratings are combined from highest to lowest using VA’s whole-person formula rather than simply added together.
When disabilities affect both arms or both legs, a bilateral factor may apply before the remaining ratings are combined.
At combined ratings of 30% or more, a spouse, children, or qualifying dependent parents may increase monthly compensation.
Interactive Calculator
Add each individual rating below. If a rating applies to a left or right arm or leg, select the appropriate location so the calculator can evaluate whether a bilateral factor may apply.
Add each service-connected disability rating separately.
Dependents may affect compensation when your combined rating is 30% or higher.
The Calculator Is Only the Math
A calculator can estimate how percentages combine. It cannot determine service connection, severity, medical nexus, or what VA will ultimately decide.

The estimated payment uses 2026 VA disability compensation rates effective December 1, 2025. Actual compensation can vary based on dependency status, Special Monthly Compensation, Aid and Attendance, military retirement offsets, recoupment, incarceration, and other factors.
Valor Health does not determine disability ratings or entitlement to VA benefits. VA makes all final rating, dependency, and compensation decisions.
