Our Services

Emotional Support Animal Evaluation + Letter

Our Emotional Support Animal Letter service begins with a confidential mental health evaluation conducted by a licensed psychologist.

The purpose of the evaluation is to determine whether the client has a disability-related need for an Emotional Support Animal and whether the available clinical information supports professional documentation for a reasonable housing accommodation.

The clinical evaluation is included in the cost of the service and is a required part of the process.

Your service includes:

  • A 30–45 minute telehealth evaluation
  • Review of relevant mental health symptoms
  • Review of functional limitations
  • Review of treatment history and available documentation
  • Evaluation of how the animal may alleviate symptoms
  • Assessment of the requested housing accommodation
  • Independent clinical determination
  • A professionally prepared letter when appropriate
  • Provider license and contact information
  • One reasonable factual or administrative correction

The psychologist retains complete independence over all clinical findings and recommendations.

A letter will not be issued merely because the service was purchased or because the client owns an animal.

This process helps ensure that every ESA letter issued by Valor Health is based on a legitimate clinical evaluation and a documented disability-related need.

Individualized Review

What the Psychologist Evaluates

The psychologist considers your current clinical presentation, functional limitations, relevant history, and the role the animal plays in alleviating disability-related symptoms.

  • Your current mental health symptoms
  • How symptoms affect major areas of daily functioning
  • Your relevant treatment and diagnostic history
  • How the animal may reduce or alleviate symptoms
  • The relationship between your impairment and accommodation
  • Whether the clinical information supports an ESA letter

Preparing for Your Evaluation

Recommended Documentation

To help the psychologist complete a thorough review, provide as much relevant documentation as possible.

Records are not required in every case, but the psychologist may request additional information before making a clinical determination.

  • Current mental health treatment records
  • Psychological or psychiatric evaluations
  • Current mental health medication information
  • Records describing symptoms and functional limitations
  • Prior accommodation documentation
  • Housing-provider forms requiring completion
  • Information about the animal and the support it provides
  • A statement describing the impact on daily functioning
Please do not submit altered, incomplete, or intentionally misleading documentation.

Clinical Integrity

Professional and Ethical Standards

Every clinical decision remains with the evaluating psychologist.

No Automatic ESA Letters

Valor Health does not operate as an automatic ESA letter website.

Each client must complete an individualized evaluation with a licensed psychologist. Clinical decisions are based on professional standards, licensing requirements, the client’s presentation, and the information available at the time of the evaluation.

Providing false information, misrepresenting symptoms, or attempting to obtain fraudulent documentation may result in termination of the evaluation without issuance of a letter.
